I feel like I scored big time this week with grocery shopping. Not only were we able to get pretty much everything on the grocery list, but a few extras as well, which is always a good thing. I enjoy grocery shopping, but I always feel relieved and maybe a bit triumphant after I get home and go over my receipt and spread all my groceries out over my counters, before I begin the put away process. I sit back…and admire all the goodies I’ve just brought into my home.
This week Freddy’s was having some pretty good sales. If you bought 4 Kelloggs brand items, you got two free gallons of milk. We ended up buying 5 Kellogg’s items because that worked best for the coupons I had, but I love saving money. We had to buy a few things that weren’t on the list for Saturday evening because Josh decided that he wanted to make his yummy taco’s for the going away party. So in addition to what was on the list, we also had to buy Chicken Breast, extra lettuce, extra roma tomatoes, extra cheese and tortillas. We found a good deal on Foster Farm boneless, skinless breast fillets that were on sale for $8.00 which was a perfect sale because normally something like that will go for $15.00 easily. And as a rule I always go over to the seafood counter to see what’s on sale. This week- Swai was on sale for $3.99 lb!!! If you have never had Swai, you should. It’s an amazing little fish-actually I’ll be fixing it for dinner tonight so stay tuned for a blog about that. Josh and I jumped at the chance to buy it and I immediately called my mom to tell her we finally bought some and she was thrilled.
We got home, I put away everything- my fridge was stocked once again :) and I was a happy camper. I ended up using almost all of my coupons and I saved $30.00 with them :) I’ve already begun the list for the next shopping trip and started clipping coupons, etc. For whatever reason, I thrive on it. Saving money is a tiny adrenaline rush for me…if it means more money in my pocket at the end of the day.
